Celebrating Neurodiversity
Our classrooms aren't just diverse; they're neurodiverse, too. About one in five children in the U.S.* are affected by learning and attention issues - that can make learning difficult.
Understanding neurodiversity is just as important as understanding other forms of diversity in the classroom. It's about creating an environment of understanding and belonging, where all students are primed to learn. Our goal is not to just accommodate all types of minds but to proudly exclaim that our PWM community is 'Celebrating Neurodiversity'.
If you think you are seeing learning differences in your child or are knee deep in IEP or ARD meetings, just staring the process or would like begin one, this group is for you!
Celebrating Neurodiversity is led by passionate educator and PWM Assistant Principal Ms. Martinez and dedicated self-proclaimed special education advocates and PWM parents Beth Superfine and Antonia Montelongo.
'Celebrating Neurodiversity' curates bimonthly sessions with guest speakers, Spanish language translators and of course a welcoming environment for children of all ages. Email us to get notifications on new events personally delivered to your inbox. We will also post announcements on the Prestonwood Montessori Parents' Page, Facebook and on The Pupdate Newsletter. This is a brand new group, which means if you want to discuss something specific, just let us know!

Propósito:
Nuestros salones de clase no son simplemente diversos; también son neurodiversos. Uno de cada cinco niños en los Estados Unidos* enfrenta algún desorden de atención que le dificulta su experiencia educativa.
Entender la neurodiversidad es tan importante como entender otras formas de diversidad dentro del salón de clase. Es crear un ambiente y espacio de integración, entendimiento y sentido de pertenencia para que nuestros estudiantes puedan gozar de un aprendizaje pleno. Nuestra meta no es simplemente acomodar todas estas mentes en un salón de clase sino exclamar orgullosamente que PWM 'celebra la neurodiversidad.'
Si crees que estás viendo diferencias en el aprendizaje de su niño, se estás en reuniones de IEP o ARD o en cuanto al proceso en general entonces, ¡éste grupo es para usted!
'Celebrando la Neurodiversidad' está dirigido por la apasionada educadora y PWM asistente de Principal Ms. Martinez y por las autoproclamadas dedicadas defensoras de la educación especial Beth Superfine y Antonia Montelongo.
'Celebrando la neurodiversidad' integra en sus reuniones bimensual : oradores invitados, traductores al idioma español y por supuesto un ambiente cómodo para niños de todas las edades.
